Here’s what you need to know.

What’s changing?

If you have prescription and pharmacy network coverage through Medica, it is important that you know we’re making changes to our pharmacy program.

Starting January 1, 2020, Medica’s pharmacy program will be administered by Express Scripts® (ESI). ESI will maintain Medica’s List of Covered Drugs (formulary), process claims and help us better coordinate your care.

Why are these changes happening?

These changes will help keep health care costs as low as possible for everyone, while continuing to make sure you have access to safe, affordable and effective prescriptions.

Coverage changes

Some members will see changes in their prescription coverage for certain drugs and supplies. Those affected by coverage changes, will receive a letter with details about specific changes. If you receive this important letter, talk with your doctor or pharmacist about your treatment options.

Your new ID card

Watch for your new ID card to arrive in the mail before the end of the year. Your card will include new information for your pharmacist. Starting January 1, bring your new card to the pharmacy so that your pharmacist can update your information and make sure you receive the right coverage for your prescriptions.

Large pharmacy network

You’ll have access to a broad network of pharmacies – including chain pharmacies (Walgreens, CVS Pharmacy, etc.) and neighborhood pharmacies.
